The University of Dallas Men’s and Women’s Track team competed in Abilene, Texas on Friday in the War Hawk Classic.

It was the first time in two weeks that the track team had competed at an event and several athletes came away with new personal records with a few more placed in their events.

Cecilio Huitron, Charles Obegolu and Isaiah Hayes each set personal records in their events for the men’s team. Joseph Kilmer and Prince Giadolor placed 7th in the 1500M and 8th in the 100M, respectively.

The women’s 5000 Meters had several notable results. Freshman Emma Kate Callahan took fifth place, while also setting a personal record with a time of 20:59:91. Clare Hernandez took eighth, clocking in at 21:23:01. Amy Foote set a personal record of 23:40:52.

Anna Brunk and Hannah Green both tied personal records in pole vault. Brunk and Green had both beaten the school record for pole vault in the first meet of the season and have only improved since. Brunk finished sixth with her 2.9 meter vault, and Green finished with 2.75 meter.

Brunk was happy to see how they all performed.

“We all got out there and did our best, and I’m excited to see how the rest of the season goes,” she said.

Hannah Green was also pleased with her performance.

“I was really excited to tie my collegiate record.”

Both teams travel to Magnolia, AR next weekend to compete in the two day Dan Veach Invitational.
