The Lady Crusaders have been working hard for the past few weeks. Right before break, the team was victorious over Oglethorpe University. The team then headed to Michigan to play Kalamazoo College and the University of Michigan-Dearborn.
The Lady Crusaders lost to both of these schools, with final scores of 69-66 and 68 -67, respectively. After the break, the Lady Crusaders achieved a victory over Colorado College, with a final score of 68-50. The team also won games against Dallas Christian College (90-76) and Centenary College (74-61). Unfortunately, the team’s winning streak was frustrated in a match against Austin College, which resulted in a final score of 68-56. The team also lost to Texas Lutheran University (80-67) and Schreiner University (73-65). Finally, the team achieved victory over Hillsdale Freewill Baptist (85-69).
This past weekend, Dallas played its two closest rivals, Trinity University and Southwestern University. While the team lost to Trinity, it put up a good fight. The Lady Crusaders were up by one at halftime but lost their lead in the first six minutes of the second half. They were never able to recover, and the game ended with a score of 85-69. The game against Southwestern University came down to last-minute free throws in overtime. Senior Christy Allen hit one free throw for the team to take the lead by one. Junior Marleyna Bustamante put the Crusaders up by three with 17 seconds left in overtime. A failed attempt at a three-point jumper by Southwestern resulted in a victory for the Lady Crusaders.
Over the past month, the Lady Crusaders have accumulated 11 wins and seven losses. Next weekend they will play Trinity and Southwestern once again.
