This weekend, the Ultimate team participated in the Harvest Moon Tournament in Fayetteville, Arkansas – the biggest tournament of the semester. Competing in the tournament were roughly 60 teams from all over the country, dressed in creative costumes and ready to win. The University of Dallas team dressed as Pacific islanders, wearing costumes coordinated by the girls’ team, which came out to support.

On Saturday, the team got off to a good start with a record of 2-2. The first game was a success for UD, with a 12-11 win against the Super Mario Bros. from UTA. UD then faced a team from Washington, dressed as the cast of Star Wars, and won with a score of 13-8. Notable plays were made by freshman Holden Berg, who defeated the Evil Emperor, and senior Christian Walker, who stopped Darth Maul from scoring.

After losing to a team from Nebraska 13-8, UD lost again to a team from Missouri, dressed as the cast of the TV show “Archer.” During the game, UD suffered the loss of a key player, freshman Martin Sentmanat, who sustained an injury to his ankle that kept him on the bench for the rest of the weekend.

“I would have played if they let me,” said Sentmanat.

On Sunday, the team started off play with a game against St. Louis University. After a great comeback, tying the game at 7-7, the UD team lost 8-7. UD went on to face the University of Kansas, winning 10-6. After Oklahoma State University forfeited the game against UD, the tournament came to an end.

UDU placed ninth overall in the tournament. The team celebrated the career of senior Will Teller, who has played for the past four years at UD, and who played his last tournament for the university this past weekend.
