Tough losses for women’s lacrosse

This weekend, the University of Dallas women’s lacrosse team traveled up to Fremont, Neb., to take on both Missouri Baptist University and Midland University. On Saturday, April 6, the women lost to Missouri Baptist 14-5, and on Sunday, April 7, they fell to Midland University 17-1. The women fought hard to keep up with both teams, but fell short in the end.
UD played very well for most of the first game. Freshmen Hayley Rodgers and Mikayla Tolley, sophomore Mary Hilker and senior Irene Harris all scored for the Lady Crusaders. However, Missouri scored its fair share of goals in both halves to win.
The second game was a completely different story, with UD unable to advance to the offensive side for most of the game. Midland held the ball and kept possession the majority of the time. Sophomore Mary Hilker was able to score UD’s only goal in the second half. However, Midland did not let up, and finished the game with 17 goals.
The Lady Crusaders’ record for the year fell to 1-7 with the loss. They travel to Jackson, Miss., to take on Oglethorpe University on Saturday, April 13.
