Last Saturday, the University of Dallas women’s lacrosse team traveled up to snowy Bangor, Maine, to compete against the Husson University Eagles.
The two teams matched up well, although a limited number of players left UD with no subs for the duration of the game.
During the first half, Husson jumped out to a 2-0 lead. But UD answered back, regaining the lead with goals by freshman Mikayla Tolley and seniors Mary Salotto and Irene Harris.
However, Husson’s three-goal run helped the Eagles retake the lead, and they edged into halftime ahead despite additional goals by Tolley and Salotto. The half ended with the Eagles leading 10-6.
The Crusaders continued to fight, coming out in the second half with a four-goal run behind Tolley and sophomore Mary Hilker and tying the game at 10. But a six-goal run by Husson put the game out of reach.
UD was able to squeeze out two more goals from Salotto and Harris, but it wasn’t enough to beat Husson, leaving the final score at 16-12 in favor of the Eagles.
The Lady Crusaders’ record now stands at 1-4.
