JK: What are your fashion influences?
EL: This is so hard! I don’t know – I’m not really that adept in popular culture to think of a person I emulate for style. My roommates, probably. They dress well … and they dress me, sometimes.

JK: What are some of your favorite things to wear?
EL: I’m really obsessed with shoes. I literally have, like, two closets in the house I live in off campus. One of them has little shelves in it, and it’s just filled with shoes. It’s just a glorious oasis of shoes.

JK: What are your favorite shoes?
EL: I like boots, and I really like pointed-toe heels. I don’t really like platforms.

JK: What is a fashion trend that you like?
EL: Giant floral prints! I was really upset because the spring that they first came in I was in Rome, and by the time I came back it was over, and I’m really upset about it. But now they’re back! I just like them so much more than tiny floral print.

JK: What is a trend that you don’t like?
EL: All the neon – I can’t really do neon. I like muted colors. I have one or two things that go well with that, but it’s not really my thing. It’s an ‘80s throwback.

JK: How do you shop on a college budget?
EL: I make bad decisions! Mostly I stalk clearances – I like Anthropologie but I obviously can’t afford to buy their stuff. I’m big on clearance sections. I just bought a Spring Formal dress from Loft because it was on clearance.

JK: Do you have any fashion advice for the readers?
EL: I think my advice would be to not necessarily dress up, like wear a cocktail dress on a Wednesday afternoon, but I think it’s nice to wear things that look like you put more effort into it. Not necessarily expensive things, but wearing a nice top instead of a T-shirt.
