This weekend, the University of Dallas baseball team started a winning streak. Dallas played three games against Austin College (1-2) over Saturday and Sunday.
The first game saw the University of Dallas struggle against Austin College, as the team lost by a single run. Alex Thornton batted .400 in the first contest, scoring twice and batting one run in for the Crusaders.
The second game against Austin College went much differently, as the Dallas squad lived up to its potential. In what can best be described as the total slaughter of Austin College, the Crusaders gained a quick 3-1 lead by the beginning of the second inning. Pitcher Chris Schierhorn pitched five innings, only allowing two runs. The Crusaders added another seven runs in the third inning and continued to play good ball throughout the rest of the game. Alex Thornton, Matt Farris, Mark Carlson and Jake Pierce all had two runs. By the end of the ninth, Dallas had triumphed 13-6, bringing its SCAC record to 1-1.
On Sunday, the baseball team again triumphed over Austin College. The score was 9-2, bringing the team’s conference record to 2-1. Congratulations on a great start to conference play!
