Charity Week is coming up just around the river bend, and with that comes the University of Dallas’ annual Family Weekend. This year, students and faculty members have decided to start the fun off with a bang with two special events: a flash mob and the Student Talent Show.
The flash mob, choreographed by freshman Stephen Thie and juniors Cierra Houchins and Hayley Reynolds, will be Sept. 28 at 4:30 p.m. on the Mall. The dance, which will be to DJ Earworm’s remix “Blame It on the Pop,” will include about 20-30 students, as well as a few surprise faculty members.
“It’s not something you see every day at UD, and it will be fun for the parents,” said Houchins. “UD focuses a lot on the academic, so students should take a second out of their day to embrace the fun side.”
Houchins is also co-hosting the Student Talent Show, along with fellow juniors Matt Pierick and Nick Catanese. They plan on making the show, always a popular event, even more entertaining by taking out the usual lull between acts by encouraging crowd participation.
“We’re definitely going to integrate the audience,” Pierick said, a touch ominously.
The talent show will take place Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. in Lynch Auditorium. Make sure to check it out to see the talent of your fellow students – and maybe get called out from the audience at some point in the night.
