Well, here we are: May 2012 – the end of the school year, and the end of my time at the University of Dallas.
I am not a sentimental person, but when I look back over the past four years, I cannot but be in awe of the changes that I have seen and the incredible friendships – with both my peers and my professors – that I have made. I am especially grateful to those who have taught me how to think and to the professors who have shared their passion for learning with me. I can only hope to emulate you someday.
I know it has been said time and again, but it remains as true as ever: Faculty, administration and my fellow students, you make this university, this community. I have been so privileged to work with and to know you all. It is through you that I have come to love this university, and I will miss you greatly.
Yet with all endings come new beginnings, and it is my pleasure to announce that next year’s managing editor of The University News is Louis Hannegan. As many of you know, Louis is a rising senior politics major and the current commentary editor. Additionally, Theresa Watson, rising senior art history major, will take over as the business manager. She has already begun working in this capacity and has done a fantastic job. I rest assured knowing that The University News is in such capable hands.
Finally, I must express my infinite gratitude to Raymond Wilkerson, the staff advisor of The University News. Mr. Wilkerson has been an incredible mentor and unfailing support to myself and to all of the staff members. The newspaper would not have been the same without him.
I thank the entire UD community for its assistance, encouragement, and patience with me this past year.
May God continue to bless you all.
