The University of Dallas baseball team swept the Dallas Christian Crusaders this Saturday, winning 4-3 and 10-6.  The successful senior day ended a regular season in which the Crusaders went 23-15 overall and 10-10 in conference.

UD won behind a strong combined pitching performance and a clutch hit in the seventh inning.  Senior Michael Schweiss and freshmen Jacob Ford and Luciano Villanueva each pitched one inning and combined to give up two runs, while senior Stephen Hansen and freshman Martin Cronin each pitched two innings, giving up only one run.

The score was tied 3-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning when freshman Hunter Berry came through with the game-winning walk-off hit.  This was the fifth time in the last month that the Crusaders have had a walk-off win.  Senior leftfielder Devin Arnold, sophomore second baseman Mark Carlson and sophomore first baseman Andrew Bossert each contributed two hits to the Crusaders’ offensive attack.

The Crusaders won the second game 10-6 behind a strong offensive performance.  UD got RBIs from five different players. Carlson and junior third baseman Trevor Allred each recorded two RBIs, while Bossert, senior centerfielder Brian Shelburne, and junior designated hitter Nico Caluda each had one.  Arnold and Shelburne also had two hits apiece.
