This weekend, the University of Dallas softball team traveled to San Antonio, Texas, for their first conference games in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC). Playing against the Trinity Tigers, the Lady Crusaders played hard but lost all four games.

The teams played two games on Saturday, March 25 and two more the following day. The first game was scoreless until the third inning, when Trinity scored two runs. The Lady Crusaders were not able to stop the Trinity bats after this, and only managed two hits and two walks in the game, which Trinity won 8-0 in six innings.

In the second Saturday game, UD was able to put some offense together. Seniors Jessica Mollner and Becca Burns, and freshmen Taylor Garcia, Emily Madden and Jillian Loukanis each contributed a hit.

Madden and senior Liana Revelas each scored a run, while Madden and Loukanis each had an RBI. The Trinity offense was strong again, however, and the Lady Crusaders lost the game 10-2 in five innings.

The team faced another tough doubleheader against Trinity on Sunday. Trinity’s success at the plate continued unabated in these two games. Their pitchers were on top of their game as well. Trinity pitcher Sydney Friday threw a one-hitter in the first game, which Dallas lost 9-0 in five innings. Lauren Mercado threw the second game for Trinity and limited UD to only two hits. The Lady Crusaders lost this game 16-0 in five innings.

After a tough weekend, the Lady Crusaders are looking to rebound with four more games against another conference rival, the Austin College ‘Roos. Come out to support your softball team at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 31 and at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 1.
