- Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum
Dallas’s brand new museum tells the story of the Holocaust and “the emergence of international human rights following the war, and the development of human and civil rights in America.” This will be the first weekend to appreciate this new state-of-the-art museum. Tickets are $12 for students, but you must schedule your visit online.
2. Autumn at the Arboretum
Stroll through the Arboretum surrounded by more than 90,000 pumpkins, gourds, and squash. With the “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” theme, you’ll be able to receive valuable advice from Lucy, marvel at Snoopy and Woodstock, and listen to Schroeder’s passionate performances surrounded by pumpkins. Adult tickets start at $15.
3. Addison Oktoberfest
Proudly fashion your lederhosen or dirndl and polka at the Addison Oktoberfest this weekend. Savor authentic German meals and strong beer, explore the carnival, watch or participate in a stein carrying contest, and even watch a dachshund race. Thursday and Sunday are free. Friday and Saturday are $10. Free parking is available.
4. Plano Balloon Festival
Dozens of hot air balloons will gently lift off and colour the Texas sky at Plano’s Oak Point Park this weekend. Acrobatic skydivers will perform, and fireworks will be launched at 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. A half marathon, 1k, 5k, and 10k races will also be hosted throughout the weekend. Single-day tickets are $10, with the festival closing at 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 7 p.m. on Sunday.
5. Greek Food Festival of Dallas
Remember your days in Greece with a culinary and cultural celebration at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. Attractions include live music and dancing, a Greek marketplace, and of course an abundance of Greek food. Friday and Saturday are open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., while Sunday is open till 5 p.m. General admission is $9, with an additional cost for food and beverage tickets.
6. Dallas Zoo
Over 2,000 animals await your visit to the Dallas Zoo near downtown Dallas. You are never too old to enjoy the zoo. Tickets are $17.
