The University of Dallas women’s soccer team traveled to Sherman, Texas, this past Friday, Sept. 21., with the hope to obtain their first SCAC win of the season against rival school, Austin College.

However, poor weather conditions indicated early on that the game would be cancelled. The men’s soccer team was scheduled to play before the women’s team, but just before kickoff, lightning and torrential rain engulfed the Austin College field. The men’s team took shelter in the visitor locker room and waited for the match officials to decide whether the soccer games could be played safely on the field. As time went on, the weather grew worse, and the referees decided to postpone both the men and women’s games to a later day.

“Friday’s game being cancelled was disappointing,” said Head Coach Lexi Stinson. “After a couple tough losses we spent the week focusing on some important details and were excited to play again. For now we will focus on our next game which is against Schreiner”

Unfortunately, the weather did not improve during the weekend, preventing the games from being played on Saturday or Sunday. Discussions are currently taking place regarding hopes to reschedule the games for a later date this season. The Crusaders sit at 1-4-1 overall and 0-2 in the SCAC.

The next game for the women Crusaders is at home on Friday, Sept. 28, against SCAC opponents Schreiner University at 7 p.m. following the men’s game.
