This Saturday, after a loss on Friday the 13th against Colorado College, the Women’s volleyball team had two games on Saturday.
During their doubleheader, the team fell 3-0 in both games against Centenary College in the morning and then Austin College later in the day.
During the first game against Centenary College, the UD women’s team dropped the first set 25-10.
In the second set, the team showed some fire, with senior Mary Scholz starting the match off with back-to-back kills. The teams went back and forth for the rest of the set,, but Centenary still pulled out a victory winning the second set 25-23.
In the third and final set of the game, Centenary continued their momentum by scoring seven consecutive points. Though Centenary had the momentum, UD was able to score six straight points themselves. The Crusaders stayed alive, but Centenary never relinquished their lead, ending the set with 25-23 victory.
Scholz had a conference-season-high of 13 kills in the game and junior Elizabeth Smith led the team with 21 assists.
In the second match of the day, the women Crusaders had another tough game against Austin College.
The team allowed the Roo’ Women to win the first set 25-12.
In the second set, the Lady Crusaders tried to fight back, but every time they got a small run in points, the Roo’ Women continued to counter. The Crusaders lost the second set 25-14.
In last set of the weekend, the Crusaders fought hard and competed better, but still lost 25-22.
Scholz had another team-high with 11 kills, while Smith had a total of 16 assists.
The Women’s volleyball team fell to 7-15 overall and 1-8 in the conference.
