After a long week full of papers and exams, I felt the need to congratulate myself with a good meal. Fortunately, I found one at Italian Café.

Italian Café is exactly that — a quaint little Italian café. It has a nice indoor area, as well as a large patio outside to sit and enjoy your food in pleasant weather.

The restaurant’s red awnings and checkered tiles made me think of “Lady and the Tramp” as I ate my pasta. The café also has a bar inside of the restaurant that is open until 2 a.m.

The restaurant serves everything from regular pasta to lobster ravioli and various chicken and seafood dishes.

I ordered calamari for my appetizer and tried the pasta primavera for my entrée. I even treated myself to a cannoli for dessert.

All of the food was exceptional, although it was a little more expensive than I had expected. The appetizers are around $8, and the entrees range from $11-13 for pasta and chicken and $15 for seafood.

Italian Café offers lunch specials until 4 p.m., including pizza by the slice for $2.99 and various pastas and subs that cost around $7-9.

On another note, the service was quick and the waiters were very kind. The man who waited on me was talkative and attentive, always stopping by to make sure the meal was going well and checking if I needed anything else.

Apparently, the restaurant’s recipes have been passed down for 80 years, and it definitely shows. Whether it’s for a first date, a family lunch or just a dinner with friends, Italian Café offers great Italian food for the occasion.

Italian Café is tucked away off of John Carpenter Freeway, so it was a little hard to find, but it’s worth the search.

I was definitely glad to have found such a good, hearty meal after a week of all-nighters and work. Hopefully, this great Italian food will bring you as much satisfaction as it brought me.

Italian Café is open 10:30 a.m. until 10 p.m Monday through Friday, and 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The bar also has a happy hour that lasts from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.
