Every once in a while, among the well-advertised and fancy restaurants, a small gem will appear. Located in a slightly run-down strip mall, Tasty Greek Restaurant doesn’t seem that appealing from the outside. However, once you get past the entrance, this restaurant is incredible.

Tasty Greek serves authentic Greek food and is run by the owner and his cook. The tiny restaurant has great food and great service.

This restaurant is a place where you will want to order a full meal: appetizers, entrée and all. It serves hummus and pita bread as appetizers, but make sure to save some hummus for the main course, because some of the entrees are served with more pita bread.

When my friend and I went to Tasty Greek, I ordered the Pastitcio, which is a Greek Lasagna plate that comes with Greek salad and pita bread. I’ve never eaten Greek Lasagna before, but this dish was amazing.

My friend ordered the Greek Combo Plate, which includes a gyro, kafta and a chicken kabob. She and I spent the whole dinner sharing meals because both of ours were so delicious.

Along with being tasty, the portions were also pretty large. I was glad to take home leftovers to eat later.

Most of the entrees range from $10 to $14, and the sandwiches cost around $6. The restaurant sells lunch plates from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., which cost anywhere from $8 to $9.

The owner of the restaurant, who was also our waiter, was very kind and helpful. He was happy to have customers who hadn’t been to his restaurant before and made sure to help us with everything.

At one point, my friend had a coughing fit because she swallowed water the wrong way and the owner rushed over to make sure she was all right. (She was, don’t worry!)

This little Greek restaurant was definitely a great find. The only suggestion I have is to visit when it’s not rush hour on 35E, since it’s located off of the highway in Carrollton.

Tasty Greek is open from 11 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. Monday through Friday and is closed on Sunday. This restaurant is so small it doesn’t have a website you can check out, but you can always call (972)-416-7884 with questions.

I highly recommend Tasty Greek if you have a craving for great Greek food and enjoy exceptional service.
