The University of Dallas’s very own music festival, Mallapalooza, is fast approaching! For those who do not know, Mallapalooza (“Malla” for short) is held near the end of each spring semester. SPUD invites bands from all over the country to come and play for the students.

This year UD’s very own Sweet Somethings and Dyl Pickles and the Rosebuddies will be the first bands to play, followed by the Mississipi prog-pop ensemble Light Beam Rider. The rock band from Texas, War Party, will play next, followed by the headliner, Wampire.
The event is free and open to all, and is expected to run from 6 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. There will be chips, hot dogs and burgers for sale, along with free popcorn. For those over 21, there will be a beer garden with $2 beers.
On top of the offerings provided by SPUD, the Student Foundation will be offering ice cream and a bag toss tournament. The Rotaract Club will be selling bracelets, the International Students Association will have a mystery treat, and the Disc Golf Club will have a disc toss set up.
Coordinator Alex Lebl encourages students to attend, because “all of the bands this year are going to be fantastic, and the lineup features [are] all up and coming.” He added, “It’s so wonderful that a student can just go out to the heart of campus and hear amazing bands.”
T-shirts go on sale this Wednesday in Haggar for $10. For more information, check out the SPUD Facebook page, where there will be more information on the bands and links to samples of their music.
