This past weekend, both the men’s and women’s basketball teams traveled to Sherman, Texas to play for the conference title. The men’s team came into the tournament seeded No. 3, and tipped off against Austin College. Despite being able to edge out Austin College in two previous regular season games, the Crusaders were not able to overcome the Kangaroos, and lost 58-74. This game marked the final game for senior guard Drew Assinesi and senior forward Tanner Bruffey.
The Lady Crusaders were seeded No. 5 and faced off against No. 4 Centenary College. The team was able to make it to the semi-final game. They closely defeated Centenary College, winning by only two points to give the game a final score of 59-57. In the semi-finals, Dallas played No. 1 seed Trinity University. The women’s team gave its all, falling narrowly by a score of 53-59. Trinity University would go on to win the conference championship. The team will definitely feel the loss of Kylie Yoshimura, a senior guard who averaged 14.6 points per game.
