Do you like food? Do you like making a mess? Do you often feel the urge to fling a spoonful of your mashed potatoes into your friend’s face? If you’ve said yes to these questions, then you should attend the University of Dallas’ first annual food fight.
This event, lovingly called “The Hunger Games” by its creators, New Hall RAs Hayley Reynolds and Gwen Lorei, will be held on Oct. 13 at 3 p.m., next to the lacrosse field.
“I have wanted to do a food fight for a very long time,” said Reynolds. “I think it’s a good community event.”
Food will be provided by the RAs and Aramark, Lorei said, and will include mashed potatoes, spaghetti, Jell-O, pudding, whipped cream, ketchup and mustard. It’s totally free – all students need to do is show up and prepare to get messy.
The setup will be like that of the beginning of the Hunger Games in the popular eponymous book series and movie. All the food will be set up in the middle, and students will have to race over to the table to get the best weapon. Each student will have a paper target on his or her chest, and once it is totally covered with food, he or she will be out.
“Everyone can participate … except those with serious food allergies,” said Lorei. “May the odds be ever in your flavor!”
